Here is my mystery fig. Has one ripish fruit I tried today — a nice clear sweet flavor. Any ideas on what it is, or what family it is? My MIL bought it in some store (think Trader Joes) so I assume a common one.

I too have a mystery fig. Three, actually. One I’m pretty sure is a Brown Turkey, one I’m waiting on fruit to ripen, and this one. I paid for a Beer’s Black, but got a yellow fig instead. Kadota is my best guess. Only had a single fig on its third year.

Got my first fig from a Chicago Hardy I picked up at a local nursery a month ago. We got 1 3/4” of rain the other day so the fig is a little waterlogged but still far better than the storebought figs I’ve had. It’s got about 9 other figs on it, another one should be ripe in a day or two.

Trader joes the supermarket? They sell fig trees?
My guess is that it’s Chicago hardy. Very common variety. Sold to people in colder regions of the U.S.
Losech’s fig looks very similar to yours and theirs is a Chicago Hardy.
Figs are coming in now good Craven’s Craving, CdD Gris, and others coming in now
Violette de Sollies one I like to dry. Big black figs red inteteior I’m not sure how good these are fresh? I have not eaten in fresh in a few years I do love them dried though

Another mystery fig here in the CA Bay Area: I dug up a sad old fig tree that the previous owner of our house planted too close to the foundation, and moved it to the sunny backyard slope. It dropped all its leaves from transplant shock and I thought it might die (I had to cut a couple of roots to remove the little guy), but it just popped out a couple of tiny figs. Whoa!
I’m hoping to graft a fun variety or two like Back Madeira onto this in the early spring.

Found two more very ripe/soft Campaniere figs. Some other observations. This fig can look really beat up with brown spotting on it. It’s not going to be the prettiest fig (if that matters to anyone. It doesn’t to me).
But having had more of these figs. It truly is a “tropical” fig. It even smells tropical once you split it in half. I still get that "honeyed papaya” taste every time I eat one. They are really fantastic & different. So glad I planted 2 of these in the ground. Next test is to see how it does through a zone 7B winter.
