Too bad we’ve had so much rain. After a year’s wait, it was totally bland. I did not know that citrus can lose flavor due to rain, like plums and peaches! Pretty though.
im glad my 1 Owari satsuma is going to ripen indoors. it should be at peak flavor. my Mineola’s that ripened in sept were good but not great due to all the rain we got.
I don’t believe the bland flavor was due to rain. Millions of mandarins are harvested here in the early Spring after winter rains and are full-flavored. I suspect the maturity of the plant was a factor.
Thats not bad news!
Not sure what it could be but my owari put out its first fruit last year and it was great. This year I let it hold 8 which are basically ripe but I’m hesitant to take them since there are so few
They look great. I would pick them. They are ready!
I know they are ready but with only 8 I’m trying to ration them out haha. Had 2 today and they were great and it rained this week plus I have yet to stop irrigation for the season. So I tend to think yours lack of flavor is not due to water also.
Thanks. It only hung on to 1 this year. Fingers crossed for many blooms this spring.
