Is there a sub-sonic round? I’d have to use something very quiet.

I use a Hav-a-Hart trap, followed by a pellet gun. I’ve had years removing 12. But your solution is easier.

I’d never be able to persuade my wife to taste it. She might reject me if she knew that I had.

This guy demonstrates using a 17 hmr with suppressor and without.

The noise reduction is significant.

I got up yesterday morning and there was a rabbit in my garden… it had taken out a few sweet corn plants.

60 yard shot… with my 17 hmr…

Problem eliminated.

Thanks a lot for thinking of me. I’d have to weigh the risks / rewards of this solution very seriously before trying here: Suppressors are illegal in RI and MA, which I presume to be a legacy of significant past mob activity in these states. As you know, a suppressor is essential kit for any gangland assassin. I’m no mafioso, but even so possession could mean a year in jail.

Meanwhile, I’ve been using a .177 pellet gun with the heaviest pellet I could find to keep it subsonic. The sound of this heavy pellet seems roughly similar to the suppressed shots in the video. A lighter supersonic pellet emits a much louder “crack.”

The gun seems capable of a 60-yard (or more) shot but so far my longest have been 35-40 yards. But at that distance, I’ve dispatched woodchucks, rabbits and squirrels. Also a crow stealing tomatoes. Nocturnal feeders such as raccoons have to be trapped.
