Practically feels like everyone else wants to grow persimmons in Zone 4B. You don’t have to, but you can just start reading a couple posts here:
Basically, persimmon is one of those things that’s just an experiment to grow in Zone 4b, but orchardist are doing it because they wish it would work in Zone 4b. In marketing terms, it’s “aspirational.” I’m doing it too.
There’s a website called Montana Fruit Tree Company. They have a minimum order of $200. They’ve been able to adapt some fruit like Almonds and English Walnut and some grapes to Zone 4B. That would be unique.

Remember the University of Minnesota has releases for grapes and pears and plums, not just apples for Minnesota. The University of Wisconsin River Falls, not far across the border, developed a hybrid cherry-plum called Black Ice.
