I almost always include ginger and turmeric in my green smoothies. I use the ginger for both health benefits and taste and the turmeric is really mostly health benefits since I don’t think it is as obvious in taste with everything else in the mix. I make one every few weeks, keep it in quart jars in the fridge and we drink it over 3ish days. I used to actually have a green smoothie of some type almost every day, but I’ve gotten lazy.
Thumb sized piece of ginger root
Thumb sized piece of turmeric root
2 ripe bananas
1 orange
2 cups of frozen blackberries (Ponca from the summer harvest)
1 cup frozen mango
Pack as much kale in as possible, add water and then blend
When I’m having them more regularly I vary the greens a fair bit, but kale is what I use most.
Already knew this without the article. But it’s good to begin to see some trickles.
I put it up thinking some members may grow ginger, but I conflated it with ginseng somehow. I know nothing about the requirements for growing ginger, but I assume that there are warm regions in the U.S. where it can be grown. ,
There’s a thread for that.
