Today in the morning I went outside and the blueberries with their frosted leaves were so beautiful that I made several pictures, which I want to share with you.
A flowering pear at the front of the property. Notice the suckers at the base? I plan to use those suckers as root stock for next year grafting. And I plan to graft quite a bit for family members who wants Asian Pears! I hope for a successful year…
I love the winter look but have no desire for the winter feels! It’s beautiful to look from inside the warmed window next to the fireplace with a crackling fire going but cold and miserable to drive to work!
Very calming and serene photo Derby. We used to have a summer cottage in WV along the south branch river that this photo reminds me of. It lied in a river bottom between a tall and steep mountain and a lower ridge. There were many cattle there also and there moos would create a soft echo up the river valley.
Are they your cattle btw?
No, that land belongs to a neighbor. I was on my way over to my dads place to cut some wood. The creek runs right through the edge of the timber in that photo and my granny lives just across it on the north bank( the high side)
Nice pictures, Derby and Drew. This time of the year has its own charm, a little sad and quiet. Your blueberries are beautiful, mine are refusing to change the leaf color.
Chandler lost all of it’s leaves, Liberty here is holding on. My Toro plant got too dry or was over fertilized and died on me. I’m bummed as it has the sweetest berries. I’m replacing it in the spring. I also have Sweetcrisp, Indogocrisp, Southmoon, Legacy, and Cara’s Choice. Out of these Legacy is the most impressive. Here, in this cold zone, Northern Highbush is what you want. The Southern’s are experiments. I may have to let them go, we will see…
