Fruit Shape Molds

OK as a curiosity…has anyone tried to use a shape mold for melons or other fruit? You know the ones I’m speaking of that are popular by some in Japan?

I’ve been curious about them for a while now as a novelty.

See photo below as an example from Amazon.

My concerns would be matching the volume of the mold with the normal fruit volume. Would the mold simply split open or would it keep the fruit from getting any bigger?

Would sealing up the developing fruit trap moisture and cause issues?

Would the fruit ‘bake’ from added heat of being contained in plastic with no air flow? Do you cover it from sun exposure instead?

Post a few photos of the cuke when you can. You MUST have taken a photo?!

Yes, like mrsg47 I’ve had good luck with garden fruit vegetables, but not with pear.
