Fruits, Flowers and Buds- 2026 edition

Brain fart. It is a tropic snow. My neighbor has a tropic beauty that started ripening a couple weeks ago. They were very good as well.

Yeah I’m inclined to think FB is far more likely to gain a foothold in trees which are stressed.

I got the scion for Horse from a local county extension grafting class so no idea who provided it. This seems to match it fairly closely though: Fruit | Albemarle Ciderworks & Vintage Virginia Apples

Ripens early July for me and they’re pretty good for apples in that time frame.

My tree is putting on a lot of growth as well as having a dozen or so fruit.. Can certainly get you a scion or two from it!

It seems Williams Pride is Self-Fertile in Warm Climates (:jamaica:). I gave my neighbor this variety 2 years ago. No other varieties were nearby to cross-pollinate it. Additionally, he told me a golf size one fell off recently. I’m guessing it probably was a June drop :man_shrugging:t5:.

First blueberries, and Amethyst peas. Might have a mulberry tomorrow.

Also, finally decided a spot for hostas I bought last fall on discount. That last little plant was in the roots of a hosta my neighbor gave me. Baby hosta or something else? The leaves look different.

What do you think of that Crimson Knight? I’ve got two of the others from the Crimson series. Not real impressed. One has a slight taste of soap.

Peruvian Apple cactus. The main cutting that I started with has looked really bad like it was dying for like there past 6 months at least. I was going to chuck it in the compost because I thought it was dead and then I noticed healthy new shoots coming from the base. Now it’s fruiting from the dead looking part and has four more flowers forming.

I like it pretty well, it is sweeter than the Caroline and joan j for me, but smaller fruit. Has a unique flavor that the other two don’t have, but isn’t bad and definitely not soapy. It also is the most cold hardy.
