BTW I ate the last of the Thomcord last week at a higher Brix. Definitely tastes like the Concord grape juice of childhood. I’ve never had a Concord grape as we only get 2 or 3 varieties in stores down here.
It’s not quite as bold as Concord, but a hell of a lot more flavorful than it’s other parent, Thompson.
Tomorrow AM is harvest day for my Errante Noir! Brix now at 20.8 and pH 3.32
I have an old, seeded Concord variety. The seedless Cs are prone to rot, but the seeded ones grow like wild grapes and need no intervention here in the humid SE. Concords are so underrated.
I added a few tropical water lilies in tubs. The blooms will ultimately be held 4-6 inches above the water but are just barely breaking the surface now as the plants recover from shipping. The varieties are Islamorada and Murasaki Shikibu, both of which are viviparous so the can make new plantlets at the leaf/stem junction. So even though the main plants will die in the cold I can nurse some babies along under lights through the winter to restart the tubs next spring.
