I was weeding around my Titania black currant this afternoon and noticed quite a few small seedlings amongst the stiltgrass and wood sorrell. As I plucked them all out and thought about the fun I could have planting all the baby seedling currants out in a neat row to grow them out and see if they were any good, but I don’t have room so never mind, it suddenly occurred to me that wait! What if I just planted them all together like a single bush?? I’m sure I have room for another Currant bush (somewhere!) and I could just as easily see if any of the seedlings turns out to be something interesting that way.
So anyway, here’s where I ended up. I’ll grow these out in this pot for a bit until I can transplant them properly, then plant them out as if they were a single bush. In a couple of years I’ll see lf any of these little guys is interesting at all.
Thought I’d pass this idea along in case anyone else is in a similar situation.
