Galaxy peach!

My area is alternating between zone 6a and 5b. Also, fluctuating spring weather is a headache. I want only a scion of this variety and not want to invest in a whole tree.

I really like this sweet, humongous peach. Not sure why many of us don’t grow it.

The only low acid peach I’ve tried that I like is actually a nectarine (Honey Royale) that is capable of producing exceptionally high brix readings. This compensates for the lack of acid for me, creating an entirely different fruit quality from anything else I’ve ever eaten. Taught me why FN gets excited about this kind of fruit, although for me it isn’t better than lower brix nects with some acid kick, just entirely different and very good in its own way. Imagine a nectarine with 28% brix when the next highest reading I get is around 15.

It is surviving here fine- growing with excessive vigor, actually (almost all water sprout type growth), which may be why the fruit is scarce on the tree. I’m trying to figure out if I can somehow manage it into better productivity with more summer pruning to favor smaller wood.

I think you’ve got it right Alan. Sweet Dream is no Honey Royale. Did I really talk up Sweet Dream all that much? There are probably going to be disappointed Sweet Dream growers.

No, Fruitnut. You did not talk me into it. I bought a bunch of them last year from the nursery that grow it.

I have not had any nectarine that I like so I can’t comment on it. Maybe, I could grow Honey Royale.
