Is your plant called Golden Muscat as well? I buy the golden/pink blush “golden muscats” at whole foods/hmart/trader joes that I think a lot of you are talking about. They are great I’d love to grow them but the vines or sale online labeled golden muscat seem to be mostly all green and more ovular.
I bought the golden muscat plant from Miller nursery many years ago. The nursery itself was sold to StarkBros.
It is borderline for golden muscat here, it has been struggling for years. But it is still alive and bears some fruits. It’s golden-ish translucent when the fruits are ripe.I have Reliance growing on the same arbor. Reliance is pinkish grape. Recent years, the weather was warm and both grapes ripen in warmer temperatures. Golden Muscat does not show pinkish color.
I will post pictures when it ripens this year.
I’m curious how does Diamond Muscat compare vs Summer Muscat in your experience?
My experience agrees with SM having been bred for making raisins. I dried some last year (1st year that I had more than a handful of fruit). They turned out nice, but a little funny - long and skinny for a raisin.
The flavor of fresh fruit is out of this world, and I’m absolutely thrilled this year - the plant is loaded
They just started ripening ![]()
I’m not really considering replacing it with anything, so I’m just curious about Diamond Muscat.
My Diamond Muscat must be an impostor. It doesn’t taste anything like Summer Muscat. It’s already been removed.
I’m glad you like SM. It is fantastic. Maybe I could get a cutting from you this winter.
