Yes. I used to live on the East Coast. My trees there all developed disease in the summer. I’m not saying we have worse problems than the East Coast, but east of the Cascades is a totally different bio region than either coast.
Any idea what killed your Black Limbertwig tree?
It had some kind of trunk necrosis it got many years ago from a pruning wound. It looks like it finally caught up to the tree. I’m pretty sure it was not fireblight as it started in the fall, but I never figured out exactly what it was. Only one year did it hit my orchard so it was a bit of a fluke as well.
Two limbertwigs (a Myers Royal and Kentucky) died from similar disease where I grafted it at friends’ places. I called it canker but wasn’t sure. Took out large, mature trees.
Hi Mike. Im in Northern Ohio, not far from Sandusky, and I just purchased goldrush apples two weeks ago from our local orchard. They were blushed and delicious. Im going to attempt growing them. Im not sure what rootstock they use, but next time the kids and I go back to get some of their baked goods Ill ask them and try to remember to follow up
Great info. Yes, please follow up with what you find out from them.
I would like to have a GR tree in my orchard. If it is a going to be a tree where the fruit never gets fully ripe it would be a waste of space.
(always enjoyed going to Cedar Point over the years)
