Good read for you guys

Nice link- thanks.

David Benscoter posted on the old GW board under the name “dbens” and lives about three plus hours from here just north of Spokane, WA. He very kindly sent me a “Hawkeye” scion which is set to bear soon. I gather he has a pretty decent orchard in his own right, as well as being a bloodhound.

Maybe someone could invite him here

Done.

Hello David,

I read with interest the article in the NY times about you and your work, and of course I had to brag online about having received my scions from you, and to mention that you were posting at one time on the Garden Web board. Many of the people who were regulars on the GW site went to Growing Fruit (www.growingfruit.org).

This note is to let you know about that group in the hope that you’ll come visit and perhaps join us. You’d be a very welcome addition and would probably find at least a few like-minded people there, and I know your contributions would be meaningful and appreciated. So I hope you’ll find time to at least drop in a check us out.

I hope you are doing well and that your efforts are ,uh, being fruitful …

Best wishes,

Mark Hull

I’m not as interested in old varieties from the Pacific northwest as I would be about eastern varieties, but it’s a really interesting topic and I’m hopeful that he’ll join us here and educate us about what he’s learned. It could be fascinating.

that was in my google feed this morning…interesting read…pretty cool how he used his FBI background to approach it from an investigative standpoint.
