Would this be a good time to start grafting Apple trees in zone 6? My first year trying.
My apple trees have not pushed buds yet. If you graft dormant scionwood on an existing tree, I would wait until the tree leafs out a bit. Some say at about a size of a squirrel’s ear.
But you are a zone higher, right. I won’t do it these next few days. Way too cold. We’ll have low at 20 -21 F for 2-3 nights starting Sun!!!
The good thing is grafting apple is easy. You will be successful.
