I wish this sort of system would become the gold standard for other county’s and countries and also for other fruit species.
Limiting the spread of fruit tree diseases, should be sponsored by both industry government and hobbyist alike. And although high cost and high tech. I think in the end it will pay dividends.
The step where it is possible as a consumer to safely introduce a new variety imo is essential.
Industry and government can invest so much and do so many things. But if there is incentive for people to smuggle diseased budwood, that will all have been for nothing.
