Grafting nectarine to peach

Anyone here tried grafting nectarine into peach tree without interstem?

It works great. Graft away!

Oh thank you! This is very reassuring. I already grafted about 6 nectarine but I wanted to know now if it will work or not.

There would be no need for any interstem. “Peach” and “nectarine” are both the same species. Fuzz (peach) vs. no fuzz (nectarine) is just a matter of genetic variation within the species and for whatever reason people got used to thinking of them as different fruits.

Thank you. This is a good information.

So we can confirm we can graft japanese plum, european plum, and nectarine into peach. What about apricot or aprium?

Yes,all those things.

Oh wow so apricot too can be grafted into peach. Thank you.

Most of my Apricot varieties are on a Nectarine, which like they mentioned before,is basically a Peach, with no fuzzy skin.

So we can say peach is like a universal wood for stone fruit when grafting into, except for cherry.

To say peach is universal is a much to broad statement.

I’m glad to read this thread, I just grafted 2 Snow Queen scions to my donut peach. I think this tree is dying for some reason.

Peaches have the most interesting mutations.

So here’s my nectarine to apricot.

Bud grafted late summer last year. Two buds growing. Two asleep on another branch still. 4 for 4 take though.

Do you prefer the bud? Or cleft? Or whip n tongue?
