Thanks for the scion cut block idea. I’ve been having problem with making nice clean flat cuts, most times the surface is wavy reducing cambium contact. Will get a block of wood and drill different diameter holes. What angle did you drill the hole? Thanks
Maybe make a similar tool with a sturdy handle to be able to hold over a branch for making cuts when grafting onto a tree in the ground. I was going to give up on grafting as I have had so many failures, plus I am getting old and already have plenty of variety, but now. . . Hmmmm. . .
I just sort of winged it… did not cut specific angles.
I still have it and made a couple more pictures of it. Notice the pencil line… Hope this helps.

That block idea is sooooo cool. I have a zenport (which stinks) and so I am still struggling to get long clean cuts for cleft grafting - with a knife.
I am going to try that ‘red plier-like tool’ again, tho. I forgot I had gotten one a few years ago! I like the easily replaceable standard blade.
I cannot believe I forgot I have one! Guess it’s time to organize my grafting supplies!
