Hi there, I need help here. I don’t know why my grapes are drying out from the vine. Please let me know. Not all the bundles are drying. 70% of them are drying out.
First two photos are dry, third photo is normal.
Are you in drought conditions?
Not really, I am located in PNW, I water my grapes once in the morning and once at night.
I had some grapes that swiveled up caused by Pierce’s Disease. If P.D. is not in your area my guess would be stress caused by nutritional deficiency or excess. Any fungal problems like powdery mildew on your leaves?
What variety? Did they fruit normally last year? If they are ripe, then they may just be forming raisins. Leaves look perfectly healthy, so vines don’t appear drought stressed or diseased in any way.
Looks like bunch stem necrosis. It’s a physiological condition thought to be caused by a combination of factors like overly vigorous vines, excess nitrogen, low magnesium, cool weather, among other things. What variety are they? Some grapes are more susceptible than others.
I water my grapes once in the morning and once at night.
Unless your grapes are in pots or your soil is pure sand, they typically don’t need this much water.
I’ll second the watering issue. Watering twice a day if in ground could be contributing to the issue. A deep watering much less frequently would be better for in ground grapes.
