I have seen that mice like to eat certain weeds like tuberous roots and live in these areas more often, i assume they prefer certain grass seeds also. I have recently been to a nearby golf course and noticed a total lack of rodent holes. I assume this is in part due to the grass they have.
For more context it is a large 18 hole course with many wildlife islands throughout the courses. I cant imagine they do regular baiting etc over the entire area so i assume it has to do with their grasses.
