Great Muscadine Day

Went to Hillcrest Farms a Muscidine Vineyard today. The farm is located near Pensacola Florida just across the Alabama state line near Alberta. They also have pears and blueberries.

I had my fill of muscidines today. The varities they grow are:

Cowart
Summit
Dixie Gold
Frye
Magnolia
Jumbo Red
Noble
Big Gold
Weider
And about 5 unknown types. The signs were missing. I tasted them all.

The ones that stood out for me were Summit then Cowart but Summit was way out front over the others by far. Very sweet and juicy. Had a bronze pink color when dead ripe. Yep, it was a good day.

Picked another load for jelly. This time i picked Dixie Gold, super sweet but on smaller side. Skin has a sweet mild flavor. Very nice.

$2.25 a pound. There’s another north of me for $2 lb but the rows are not labled and owner doesn’t know what she has.
