Asking price isn’t always selling price…
Not mine, on Facebook marketplace. These used to be more common. I’ve seen one converted from seasonal plant production to an unheated garden room for shelter, planted with ornamentals needing weather protection.
It might be worth $350 to the right person. That person would probably be a thousand miles away. Covering it with glass would cost a fortune. It’s only about 6ft tall so needs walls below as it is now. The door is worthless unless built back to the same height and it’s three sided. I don’t know where people come up with these values.
If covering with poly just buy a frame made for that. It would work better and be the size and height you want. Or build your own with a pipe bender.
The seller is way off base imo.
The door is halfway under the stone wall. I suppose it comes without a door too. I’ve seen new mail order greenhouses that size for half that price—and they come with glass. I expect it’s pick up only too.
Overpriced, but I’m buying it anyway and shipping it to TX down to you , Steve!
Actually seller’s on the web seem to usually reach for the stars. There was a similar, commercial one of aluminum attached to a local florist shop built in the 50’s.
Destroyed about 30 years ago, didn’t even offer to sell it, paid a company to cut it up and scrap it…
People see something that looks in decent shape and would be expensive to replace with new and think it’s valuable. They don’t think of the limitations or additional expense to rebuild around it. The person wanting it could likely afford new. Some guy in Alaska would make it work and maybe pay $350 for it.
But it is fun to look at and think about. Thank you for pointing it out.
