I have a 5x5 gorilla tent with an extension. I have the light but I assume I need some sort of fan. What sort of exhaust/fan should I be going for ?
you can use any fan in the tent. they make ones that clip onto the tent frames. you dont need a lot of movement. as for exhaust/air exchange you can just leave the door open.
Yes, I just have a regular box fan that I keep on, and I keep the doors open. I spend my money on good grow lights and not fancy fans. ![]()
A box fan is plenty for food crops. If your humidity gets too high, you can get a small 6 inch fan and place it in the opening on top of the tent. The only time I’ve ever had an issues with high humidity was with tomatoes. I must have accidentally brought in blight spores from my outdoor tomatoes, but I trimmed the diseased portions of the plant, added the 6 inch fan, and the humidity dropped significantly.
I think any clip on fan is okay, especially in a small tent. I hooked up mine to an inkbird humidity based controller (in my rather dry basement) and it reached the set point pretty quickly
Anyone have a large tent (8x8) to speak to whether there really is added value in 8” versus 6” inline fan system? I’m getting an AC infinity inline fan system with their up coming Black Friday sale and trying to determine if I really need the 8”. It’s about $100 more, and I’m already spending money I didn’t plan to. But, if I’m going to regret it, I will go for it. It’s the cloudline T6 or T8. The company says I need 8”…I also have a 6” oscillating fan.
The main joy about a bigger extraction duct fan is it can move more air while spinning slower and therefore creating less noise.
To be honest, the new EC fans are very quiet anyway.
