Growing citrus temporarily in ground

hey folks. been thinking on something. its been difficult for me to get the soil just right for my citrus in pots. would it benefit the tress to be planted in ground where there’s decent soil temporarily for the summer then just before frost hits, repot them back in good fresh soil for the winter? ive noticed many of you trim the roots of your potted citrus before repotting. this could be done when you repot them from in ground and could trim off any excess vegetation at the same time. i was thinking of putting them in a 12in raised bed for the good drainage. the soil is nice and soft in there so shouldnt be too much a chore to dig them back out. thoughts?
