Growing mustard seeds for mustard

Has anyone grown mustard, with the goal of making homemade mustard? Any advice on varieties, recipes, etc? Surprisingly hard to find resources about this…

Here is a good thread about harvesting them. There is a couple other threads on here, and some of them are linked to the first post on that thread.

thank you!

I don’t grow for the seeds but i absolutely love the greens.

Mustard greens are a staple in a lot of cultures outside of American culture. Never knew the seeds were used for actual mustard until recently

Ive tried this mustard making business and wasnt very sucessful. You know mustard seeds are tiny little things that blow away with the slighest wind.

However I do like mustard and collard greens. I remember one year we had a beautiful row of collards, big beautiful leaves. Then we got a hail storm and yep you guessed it. But it still wasnt a waste, my neighbor at the time got hail damaged callards for his cattle, they loved it. And second harvest my wife made some awesome collard rolls. Think cabbage rolls but with collards instead. I’ve yet to have mustard rolls. I can only imagine they would be delicious.
