Growing Pawpaws ( Asimina triloba )

nc1 is sprouting, forgotten in the windowsill. I should have 4 plants by spring now! Iā€™m really happy these seeds took off.

Well, not NC-1 but a seedling of NC-1, correct? I have some seeds of named varieties sprouting currently that were late to the party this year too!

yes the seed came from an nc1. this is growing from that seed. two Susquehanna and a Shenandoah also sprouted earlier on the year

Very cool! Itā€™s always exciting to see them pop up.

I just wanted to make sure you knew they arenā€™t actually true to type for the genetics of the parents. They should be pretty close, just not the same as the named cultivars. You may even end up with something better you could name! For now they are seedlings, but itā€™s a smart idea to keep notes on the parents, even if you only know one for sure.

@OckooMicrofarm has an interview with @RNeal where Mr. Peterson discussed the parentage of his Susquehanna and Potomac varieties. I figured Iā€™d share for those interested. Pretty exciting find if you ask me.
