Growing pluot in zone 8b PNW

Where were you able to buy Flavor King? I see dark “plums” at local grocery store.

@Vincent_8B on your advice I tried an under ripe Sweet Treat and quite enjoyed it. I like to eat it much better than Nadia, although Nadia is a top rate grower and producer of unblemished fruit that hang well and are easy to harvest and share. I also appreciate you considering sending me some when you didn’t know if I had any. Thank you!

@murky i like sweet treat better than Nadia. Some of my Nadia fruits had brown rod not happen with sweet treat. But Nadia set fruit more reliable. I might try to spray chemical on my sweet treat instead trim down all the branches. Even its leaves having disease but the fruits are unblemished. The underripe splash Pluot is a little bitter after tasting to me. I will try some more when the fruits get softer. My daughter likes under ripe sweet treat as well.

@Oregon_Fruit_Grow yes my sweet treat has some leaf disease like yours. Try to figure out what to do with it.

There were three or four more, but I picked mine yesterday. Rain in the forecast for the next five days and I didn’t want them to split or rot.

My tree wasn’t aphids but the leaves drying out and curl. It wasn’t effecting the fruits appearance maybe not set fruit too well. Now i decided to spray chemicals. What do you think for good treatment Dennis? @DennisD
@Oregon_Fruit_Grow my summer delights and Lea cot Aprium had some bloom last spring but no fruit setting yet. They’re growing very fast, I trimmed some branches to avoid windy breaking.

Yes, Splash has some bitterness when underripe. It gets a lot better, it isn’t just a sweeter version of the under ripe, it transforms. Not like Sweet Treat that is nice before it is ripe.

Hi Vincent,
It would be best to first try diagnosing what’s causing leaf curl. Curling can be due to the plum leaf curler aphid which the naked eye can barely detect, you need a strong magnifying glass to see them. Even when they leave the leaves stay curled. The best cure is to prune out the infected leaves to burn the eggs before spreading.
Are your leaves dieting back or just curling? Where they are curling are the Axil buds still growing or are they dieing also?
Can you send be a clear close up of a branch infected?
Do not start a chemical treatment unless you first have someone who can diagnose the cause. You can do more damage than necessary
