I do grow them and actually have a Japanese family that comes down every year for our UPic to buy them as it is one of their favorites.
I’m interested by the description, let us know if your garden becomes free of the bourgeoisie. if that graft starts a revolution I might pick some up
How did you get that? Could it be that AI translator has a twisted sense of humour?
The name actually translates to “1st of May” or May Day if you will, which evokes a sea of red flags and banners to those of us who remember the communist May parades.
The second option is that it refers to any of the numerous towns or districts named after May Day in the former USSR.
Good ole Google translate strikes again!
I can report however; the Apple of that name seems to have remained unscathed in this years bad fireblight season. Like Yates; a cultivar that has strived well.
Checked in on our largest apple varieties today…
Pumpkin Russet
Bushey Grove
Wolf River
Bogo Belle de Boskoop
Gloria Mundi
Eve’s Delight
Prairie Spy
Wow soo beautifull! Congratulations! My bigest apple so far its a Wagener apple but its still on the tree…
The only thing not fun about growing huge or even large apples for me is having to throw away what I cannot possibly finish if I’m not near my refrigerator. I think where they’d be most useful is for culinary use where large slices save time and can look spectacular.
Nice size on the Bogo Boskoop!
Looks Like it may be over a pound. How do you like Wagener? I bet it’s a good one when well grown.
Hi. Its the first time it is producing from a scion grafted last year.
Fantastic looking apples. Nice job growing them.
I have Wolf River here in my orchard. I am looking forward to having some to see how big they grow.
