Just received my Florida King from Gurney’s. To say the least, I’m not very impressed with the roots that came with it.
I was planning on growing it for budwood to top work a Desert Gold, but I may end up grafting the top to some Hansen I have growing in my side yard tomorrow.
I received a Gold Dust peach and Tomcot apricot from Bay Laurel this year whose roots were chopped off. Planted them in our native soil, mulched with some compost, and gave them a few good waterings. About two weeks after I planted them, they began to leaf out like gangbusters. You never know, it’s entirely possible yours might do the same.
