Hardy kiwi - does specific male cultivar matter?

Last week, I ordered a hardy kiwi bundle with an unnamed male, Anna, Michigan State, and Chang Bai. It was my understanding based on other posts that any hardy male cultivar will pollinate almost any other hardy female.

I’m curious as to why here, they are recommending Chang Bai be pollinated by Meader. Does it really make much of a difference?

My understanding is that you want bloom periods to overlap and that is the most important factor.

Makes sense. This is going to be a long term project anyways, so I should have a better sense in a few years if Chang Bai flowers earlier or later than the rest.

I know there are some threads kicking around on hardy kiwi. Check ediblelandscaping.com too, they had partners listed when I was checking.

Kiwi’s flower for around 10 days. Timing is important.
