Hardy kiwi (kiwi berry) collection

Some hardy kiwi (kiwi berry) from my collection.
They are also known as kiwi berries, mini kiwi, kiwai.
Most that I grow are quite hardy and can be grown in zones 6, 5 and even 4b with microclimate.
They can be propagated from cuttings or as a graft. Cuttings are available in winter time.

Hardy kiwi Kyivska Krupnoplidna
Among the biggest (in fruit size) varieties of hardy kiwi in the world, probably the largest.

How did you get these awesome varieties?

This looks awesome! Can you help us by describing how they taste or other properties of the different varieties? Thank you!

How do I obtain these purple varieties?

@jxz7245 I am thinking that these kiwis are products of some Ukrainian breeding program judging by their names…

If you are American you likely won’t find many of these for sale.

Often crosses are made with red-flesh kiwis like A. melanandra, purpurea, or some other species.

But I don’t know too many details of kiwi, there are too many species to remember…

I suggest you purchase Ken’s Red, it has red meat inside and should be easy to buy. There are other cultivars you must have in the US too.

Are you located in the USA?

Some were purchased and were exchanged.

Scions for propagation are available from me in winter time.

Each one has a different nuances of taste.
Say, one has some notes of grapes and the other has some tropical fruit flavor.
Most are better tasting than fuzzy kiwi from the stores.

@Yevhen are these arguta or kolomikta

Most are hybrids of A. arguta x A. purpurea, also A. arguta, A. purpurea.

Not kolomikta.
