i made a labeled map of my yard so if i croak, my kids will know what’s growing where.
An obsession? Yes.
A healthy one? Yes.
A more expensive than I thought it would be one. YE$. YE$. YE$.
Hmmmmmm. I suggest you ask @Rosdonald. LOL
Wait . . . are we twins???
Welcome @Stuiephoto AKA John!
All I wanted to do in 2018 (?) was ask one pomegranate question. Somehow - 7 years later - I ended up with FORTY THREE fruit trees!!!
Oh my goodness . . . this is such a fun topic.
My friends all think I must be some kind of genius to be able to grow so many different fruits !
I just let them think that. ![]()
Couldn’t have said it better, Steve.
@resonanteye Anji - thank you so much for sharing your story. Maybe we are all survivors - tending to the fruits we grow . . . praying that they will survive as well. I am happy for you - to have finally found a place to call your own and grow what you like.
Be careful with those tomatoes, though . . . I hear they all have a nasty streak when they reach their limit. - Karen
the spreadsheets are too advanced for me. doodles and secret code instead
@PomGranny it’s been a long road but I got here. the tomatoes may be my downfall but I’ll go out doing what I love: screaming at a plant
SOME women. All I collect are trees and shrubs.
Welcome to our group! I’ve been growing fruit trees for years now, in two different states, and thought I was doing pretty well. But I’ve still learned a few things here, and am sure I will learn some more. AND I’ve also been inspired to buy and graft still more here. Mom said “Where are you going to put them all?” I said “Haven’t you ever heard of bonsai apple trees?”

Borrowing a meme I saw here because it’s about perfect.
Saw some (I thought) very healthy red and gold cherry trees while passing a highway exit on several recent trips home. Today, after craning my head to look at them again, I figured I was going to cause an accident if I kept this up, so I went out of my way to turn around and park in a probably illegal and dangerous place to pick them. They’re actually Klamath plums, also called Oregon plums. Some are ripe and delicious and some are hard still, but I am going to plant the seeds.
The cocoplums off the interstate here are absolutely loaded with fruit. It has taken alot of will power to not stop and pick them. If there was an easy way to park and get them, I would have by now. Its the tastier white ones too ![]()
My little nursery is largely run by foldgers and a 3/16" drill bit.
Ok… I just spent $230 on a series of books about apples. On sale now for those who want to do the same. The illustrated history of apples in the United States and Canada by Dan Bussey jakkawpress.com
Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
I grilled pork burgers last evening… and we had our son and his girlfriend… and my daughter, her husband and our granddaughter over to have dinner with us.
After dinner… I gave each one a red/soft Kasandra persimmon (split in half) and they all were amazed at how good they were. Rave reviews.
The look on my daughters face when she got that first taste… was priceless.
That is when your obsession… has proved to be worthy !!!

I currently have 100 or so apple varieties. I swore I was done after grafting a bunch in the spring… but now I have carts full of scion wood at several vendors ![]()
Growingfruit.org is now by far my favorite website ![]()
I keep insisting to myself I will stop at 75 apple varieties that fruit in zones 8B/9…lol
to the point where i am not feeling satisfyed with my property much sooner than i thought LOL.
No one show me any new fruit!!!
