We were predicted to have 37 for the low last night, the pumpkins looked like this this morning
. Last frost of the spring was around June 24, so we didn’t quite manage 90 days of frost free this year.

We got really close last night, but just managed to dodge it by a few degrees. Extended looks good. It would be about 2-3 weeks early compared to average over the last 5 years.

I think most of the crop is colored up enough that it will be fine. These are destined for the school, pumpkin, carving party, with some of the seeds getting saved for a short season pumpkin breeding project.

We are still getting up into the 70s during the day, but temperature swings of 40 or even 50° are not unusual. On the bright side, I think it keeps our fruit tree disease pressure down and seems to help the apples color up nicely.

My first hard frost normally comes late October or sometime in November.. I have seen it as late as Dec 3.

I can look at this from two perspectives: First, no, it does not freeze here. Second, my surname is Frost and yes, I have two (grown) children.

I have a winter banana apple tree that is blooming right now, and a rhododendron that was blooming up until a few days ago when the flowers dropped off. Crazy, not sure what those trees were thinking. Some years I get bud grafts breaking in Oct. Usually our first frost is mid Nov, but we likely didn’t see frost until Dec last year. Last frost is usually around mid March, I’ve even planted tomatoes in mid April before. Not bad for being in Canada. Like a lot of the PNW last winter we likely only had 2 weeks where the thermometer dipped more than a few degrees below freezing.
I can’t see having another winter like the last one with no snow again this winter, sure would be nice though. I definitely didn’t miss shoveling snow last winter, (if you could even call it that).

It is still in the middle 90’s here. No freezing is present!….lol…If you have a way to send it here earlier I would like that. We are still 2 months out for possible freezing temperatures here.

we got a light one last thurs. but it didnt seem to affect anything. looks like some good ones coming for the weekend . time to bring the citrus in.

We’ve gotten close but not there yet. If we get our Indian Summer we could get a few more weeks frost-free, or it could freeze tonight.
