Last fall, I was adjusting a deer cage on a hazel and knocked off three nuts – the entire 2025 crop from eight trees (they’re young). I stuck the nuts in my pocket, and eventually I stuck them in the fridge for the winter with about my seed chestnuts. I thought the seeds were a couple weeks from ripe and I didn’t expect much, but all three germinated, so I planted them.
Here is the puzzle, though, I planted the three nuts as approximately an equilateral triangle in this pot. I understand I might have moved a nut while adding covering soil, but …
