Help My Blackberries, Please

I had healthy looking blackberries in my yard that I’m trying to grow. It was doing fine until I decided to water it with the same water I was using for my citrus which had a solution in it, Dr Boomerang 2 - 0.2 - 0.3. Now the berries look like it’s drying off :sob:

I’m new at getting this far with gardening. I usually kill plants within a month of having them so be easy on me.

What can I do to help my berries

The feed you used is not the cause.

It was doing so well until a couple of days after. Would you have any idea what it could be or what it needs?

Probably just starting to harden off for the winter.

Need a much better picture showing the surrounding ground and the whole plant.

When was the berry cane planted?
Where was it from?
Did it come bare-rooted or was it in a pot with soil?
How long has it been in the ground?

What was the concentration; i.e. how many tablespoons etc. did you use per gallon of water?

It was about a tablespoon in a gallon of water.

That won’t hurt anything.

It was planted in October. It was listed as two gallon plant and it came with soil, it was ordered online.

We have clay soil here but I dug a hole about 3-4 feet wide and about 3 feet deep and put rose soil with compost.

I didn’t know that they harden for winter. Maybe that’s what they’re doing. I’ll search online of picture. Here is a picture of them in them in the ground. We have wild rabbits so I had to fence them.

Please excuse the mess around it. I’m covering the ground to kill weed under it.

The planting and setup look fine. Far too early after transplanting to be concerned about a few declining leaves. What is important is the new canes that sprout up next spring. Newly planted caneberries are a 2 to 3-year project before significant amounts of fruit are available.

I would not be concerned unless there is no or sickly new growth by next July.

A small amount of fertilizer after new sprouts emerge may help.

@lostberries
That’s not a mess … it’s normal for a garden under development. :slightly_smiling_face:

The old leaves shriveled up and fell off, but there are new healthy ones coming :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I’m super happy.

Thanks to all who responded. I was freaking out

My berries have since been thriving. Plants have tons of leaves and long canes. I ended up uprooting one of them to put in a growing pot and I left one in the ground.

It sprung flowers on three canes. They’ve started to look like berries, but it looks like it might be diseased? Feedback greatly appreciated!
