Help with pear pruning

Bought 2 keiffer pears at Kmart for little. One is getting your 3 ft prune. I’ll keep every one informed.

I’ll have to look up that 1-2-3 method. Well, I assessed, and I think the only real damage I’ve done is on my younger peach tree. I just recently came to understand it has canker, and sloppy pruning cuts were part of the problem. Nonetheless it’s growing vigorously at the moment, so we’ll see!

Alan has shared it in the past and maybe when he has time he will again. I won’t try to summarize it because I won’t get it all right, but this article might help:

The author, Bas van Ende, also has a books on the subject that are readily available. Note though that the link here refers to pears.

There is a fair amount of data regarding humic acids, but it might not be enough to convince someone that is skeptical or unwilling to do a trial on their own. Two fertilizers that I have trialed, and continue to use, have it. I wouldn’t buy it as a stand alone product.

I hope everyone’s pears are doing well. :sunny:

Is there any chance someone has the PDF for this link? It looks like the website no longer exists. Thank you so much!

I brought back a tall metal three-legged ladder from California that was one of my late father’s olive-picking ladders. My trees aren’t tall enough to need it yet. I assumed that was the standard ladder used by commercial orchardists. The third leg you can jam into the tree more easily to get closer.

I just found it here http://www.crfgsandiego.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Fruit-Tree-Pruning-Basics.pdf
