Help!

My sweet cherry tree has developed this issue. During the fruit season its leaves turned brown and they all dropped…now months later there’s this…is there anything I can do?

If the leaves all dropped off your tree months ago it is probably dead. Do the scratch test on the bark to see if the wood is dead. Start at the branch tips and work down the tree. Scratch the bark. Under the outer layer it will be green if alive and brown if dead.

The mushrooms on the bark look like those that attack dead wood.

I’m pretty sure that is Irpex lacteus, the milk white toothed polypore, which is reported to be a parasite of live cherry trees. Sorry…

Where they brown spots on the leaves? Could have been Cherry leaf spot if so. Did you spray a fungicide after harvest?
