Heritage Farm & Fruit Tree Nursery

For those of you that did business them. Was it good to deal with them and how were there trees?

I bought trees from them the first year they offered trees. It was during the height of COVID. The trees were large, had lots of feathers and of good quality. They responded to my emails promptly. I would order from them again.

Thank you for the info. Was thinking of trying them out this year.

I made an order from them at the end of October. I haven’t heard from them. Emailed and still didn’t hear anything after a couple of days. Not the worst, I just don’t have much to judge on so far. I actually found this thread while looking for others’ experiences with them.

I would like more prompt communication. I feel a few days is enough time to respond to an email about an order. I just want to know what a reasonable time for an order to ship is. I am in their fall shipping zone. I normally would assume “a couple of business days” between order placed and shipped, but given that it’s now going on 2 weeks since I ordered and haven’t heard anything at all.

If it’s a good product that’s all that really matters, but the season is creeping on. I’d appreciate it swifter communication or clearer info on their site that would give an estimate of “processing time” from when an order is placed and when it ships.

@jabberwocky How did your order ultimately turn out?

They did ship the order not too long after i made that post. Wasnt thrilled with the lack of communication, but the tree looked fine. Bit of a skinny whip, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I know this thread is a newer one, so I’m hoping others who have sourced apples from Heritage Farm and Fruit Trees in the past found their orders filled accurately, no mis-marked trees or inaccurately filled orders?

@Rod just got my order today and sadly all four trees ordered were incorrect. Not a single one was even on the rootstock selected. I’ve reached out to see what the issue was.

As a follow up, I messaged the company and the shipped the correct trees out. There are on the smaller side but look good otherwise.

I ordered from them a few years ago and the trees were correct and nice looking. I wished they had shipped earlier as I requested, but it was still plenty early for Ohio and they arrived dormant.

This is rick who started this thread i did order from heritage farm and fruit trees. I ordered 6 apple trees. In the shipment on the way email 3 of the trees listed had the wrong rootstock listed. I informed them the same day and they quickly got back to me. Trees arrived april 2 and were of good quality but the 3 trees had wrong rootstock informed them at 1:01 pm and they responded at 4:16 pm . They did not have replacement trees but offered to replace the cost of the trees. And that night i requested the refund for those trees. I have not heard back from or received a refund. Understanding how busy they are this time of year i sent them a reminder email this evening and will keep everyone posted on this matter.

Up date on the reminder e-mail the response was quick tue april 22 10:58 i replyed offering to accept 3 other g890 trees instead of a refund for the trees that where in correctly on g969 saying that g969 is rated on the most recent geneva apple rootstock comparison chart v.5 as m.26 size and g890 as the largest available rootstock m.7/mm106 size. And that i have no use or do i want to waste time effort and the planting space on a tree size that is two small for my needs. Hopefully i will be able to report a positive out come. Will keep everyone informed on this matter

Am happy to report that they will replace the 3 wrong restock g969 apple trees with 3 g890 sundance apple trees which i selected from there remaining inventory. I would recommend them good quality trees at an excellent price when you factor in free shipping when spending over 100$. Also sent e-mail out at 5:02 am april 23 had a response and resolution by april 23 8:14 am thank you heritage farms and fruit trees

My experience was great! The trees arrived on time, well packed, and very healthy. As a grower myself I would remind y’all that what you really hope your buying when your getting a tree is roots and lots of them! You be the judge:

I had 450 trees to get in the ground this spring, these were for personal use/for my own fruit tree guild on the farm…so kept them in a bucket of water for literally… I kid you not 3 weeks while I was getting product in the ground for business. Anyone else guilty of having too many plants and not enough time to get the in the ground? LOL! I planted in mid to late April and all are surviving and putting on more growth than what I’ve seen from other reputable companies. I’ve bought from grandpa’s orchard, Stark bros, McKay, Burntridge etc. These took off quite impressively.

What I like most about this company is that this is a small family owned business and they give you those rootstock options you don’t see in large nursery sites or local nurseries/big box stores which is a breath of fresh air considering the market choices we have as fruit tree snobs LOL. As a side note, they offer heirloom apple varieties as well like golden russet and roxberry russet etc. They also carry disease resistant no non-sense varieties like Liberty, Goldrush, etc.

Critique: My order was incorrect at first but was corrected promptly and I was taken care of so not really a big deal. In fact, if anything it revealed a strength of this company, that is, prompt communication and immediate help when you ask!

Overall a great company, y’all should check em out next time your thinking about that next fruit tree. I feel lucky I found them
