Home grown Watermelon time

I think I overdoing the watermelon with 20 vines. Not sure how I am going to eat all of them. I gave the neighbors 10 already and still have 30 on the vines.

That is a nice looking watermelon patch…!! Big fruit, nice vines, and few weeds. Can’t beat that.

hmmm I am not sure, the only one with very dark green skin I thought I had was Janosik (which are a bit more rounded vs oblong):

Home grown Orange glo is the best. It is a keeper for sure. I harvested four already and still 6 hanging on the vines. Plus 30 more still growing from Crimson sweet and Jubilee.

Moon and Star watermelon. Very pretty outside and pinkish orange inside. Very juicy and sweet.

Check out this monster 40 lbs plus Jubilee water. This was the 6 ones that I harvested so far in 2 weeks. So sweet and crunchy firm texture. A keeper for sure .

Frost is visiting Omaha on Tuesday. Time to harvest the rest of the watermelons. 15 vines with the total of 73 melons starting late August. Still have about 30 plus left sitting in the green house. They loved Urea Nitrogen 46-0-0 and plenty of water from the sprinklers 3 times a week.

Too much gourd also.

Still eating home grown watermelon in late December with the 56 degrees weather.

Get some Kholodok seed and you can store them until February.

I’m jealous. I used to be able to grow huge watermelons until the Fusarium Wilt showed up. Now I can’t grow any at all

I thought Moon and stars had red flesh?

Moon & Stars watermelons are available in yellow, red, and pink for open pollinated varieties. I rate Yellow Moon & Stars as one of the best watermelons you can grow.
