How are your Kazakhstan apples doing?

A few years ago I got some Kazakhstan apple scions from Cornell and grafted them onto standard rootstock. I planted the resulting trees around the farm for wildlife, to introducing genetic diversity and for their beauty. One of the newly grafted grafts had very nice flowers and reddish leaves. Last spring I found that resulting tree had been severely damaged by borers and was a goner. I took some scions and made grafts and saved it. I would love to hear from others how their wild apples are doing.
