How far along are your trees?

fruitnut-

My Robada is covered in blooms…is this self pollinating? I can move it (its potted) next to the Puget Gold (in the ground) that is also blooming…i also have a branch of Tomcot that is blooming.

It probably is but cross pollination can’t hurt. They don’t need to be too close if there are bees about.

You got a pic? Always nice to see.

I also had Cot-n-Candy that had a few blooms and my Spice Zee only had 2 :frowning: . Not bad for my second year in this climate.

Hard to see them, but plenty of flowers—this is Puget Gold (i’ll actually prune all the tall stuff back, but thought i’d leave them for the bees to hit before i do)…this tree has Tomcot, a pluot (it must be a hardy pluot because there are flower buds and they are going to bloom soon), Satsuma plum, Superior plum, and some other stuff budded to it (i can’t even remember anymore!). I did have a donut peach grafted to this apricot…nope…it didn’t like that…grew about a foot and more or less said i’m done (not compatible).

Robada —potted

.
…this nectarine is in the ground and flowered (it will in a day or so) after a Wisconsin winter! (-15F or so here)…it is in a protected south facing location, but had almost no snow or anything around it all winter long (but is close to the house so that obviously helps). The tree looks to have a dozen nectarine flowers or so…its a tree with several fruits budded to it.

Same for the Satsuma plum…handled several spots in the yard (its grafted on several trees) and is blooming right now.

Lapins sweet cherry is close.

My Robada is covered with flowers since yesterday. Starkbro said it is self pollinated, keep fingers crossed for fruits :yum:

I’m screwed here. The GFS for days and days has shown a cold air shot after cold air shot coming down over the midwest…Looks like today/rainy tomorrow and then game over. I think upper 20Fs are a giving…maybe a couple nights…snow isn’t out of the question either… All the potted trees are fine…but i’ll have to figure out what i want to do with the in ground trees…if anything.

Try to save a couple of your favorite trees. You can hang a high watts light bulb in the center of the tree and cover the whole tree with a tarp or a painter cloth sheet. Leave the light on until bad weather move on.

A few more pics… I’m not sure about these BuenOS—came bare root maybe a month ago and are flowering (flowers hold?)… On Krmysk 86 so that is different…the Monique just started to send out leaf shoots…thought it was dead…took forever to wake up (its in a warm spot too)…

I’ll try that. My hybrid plum opened its first bloom…nothing yet open on the pears, apples and sour cherries…but they are so close. The cots are just about done===they’ll be toast…too hard to protect that tree. Everything good is in pots, so they’ll be fine (garage).

Omaha is a good week or so ahead of here. Your carmine jewel is huge compared to mine. I’ve got to plant mine in the ground this year. That 15 in 1 apple is amazing, but you need to add at least another 40 varieties to it… I’m building one, but mine only has 4 grafted to it so far… I still need/want a hardy stonefruit rootstock that isn’t a peach… My Raintree order looks like it will be here this week and i have some Krymsk 1 coming…I also have BuenOS on Krymsk 86

Buds were popping today. 69 degrees for the high but I still seem to be a bit behind because of altitude, northeast slope and a very cold March.

Yey! I got my first cherry blossom on a black gold cherry.

April 19

Most of mine are done blooming. A lat frost nipped the persimmon growth, and grapes, mulberries, and figs, but did not bother plums, apples, pears. most peaches or cherries.

Plums have great fruit set this year. Looks like there will be a lot of cherries, some Asian and Euro Pears, and peaches.

This one has me especially interested. It has some friends on another tree that are not as far along. I’ll be heading there with a paintbrush maybe in a few days.

Please don’t leave us hanging. What is it?
