I use the phrase “I think my hand is going to slip while I cook lunch” as a fair warning to my partner when he’s testing my nerves. It always works, although I’ve rarely carried out the threat beyond giving him hickups for some 15 min.
Habenero and ghost peppers in small quantities have been a very pleasant surprise to my dishes this year. Its a fine line to get to overly hot. If i go dinner with someone from Mexico or Thailand and they blush from the heat i will know i over did it. I enjoy thai food and Mexican food a great deal. The point when the food feels like punishment and your noise runs and eyes tear up then you over did it.
my wife always says to me ‘’ how can you enjoy the taste of your food when its so hot. i tell her like you said moderation is the key. a pepper has to have more to offer than just heat. i find many habaneros have a sweet almost peachy undertones.
Exactly they have fruit like flavor. Got to cool them off a bit to enjoy that complexed flavor.
Time to make a pot of beans. Habaneros and the low heat ones like Zavory rule. In rice too
