That sounds very very cold! We got excited when temperature drop below -30
So many here might laugh, but as of now we are forecast to get 4-8 inches of snow on Tuesday.
Mind you, that snowfall if it happens would be a top 5 and perhaps top 3 biggest snowfall in 150 years for this area.
South Louisiana 35 miles north of New Orleans.
Lows in the low 20ās and perhaps even upper teens before itās said and done.
I have my Wyze cams all set up for time-lapse videos.
I know 32 and less doesnāt add to chill accumulation, but itās been a more than adequate month down here against averages.
Snow is all melting but weāre coming up on some bitter cold including a forecasted actual low of -11Ā°F (lower windchill), which is only unusual in recent years for this area, hopefully some of the younger and more tender hybrid persimmons make it. It will be three days of sustained cold. My little area does have a but of a warmer microclimate, but Iām thinking the Goras will be in danger.
Looks like on and off rain for the rest of the month, which is unusual but not unheard of. The last bit of moisture till fire season starts. Supposed to stay chilly this week, but be lows of 60s by the end of the month. Looks like we escaped frost for the most part this year.
Itās back to the -40āsā¦ it was +2 less than 3 days ago. Ah, Canadaā¦
40ās -50ās winter
-19 at sun rise. High of -8, windchill down to -40 at times.
40ās and 20ās on my end
Strange forecast, single digit day temps but only dropping a few degrees at night. Weāve been keeping the wood stove stoked up this year, emptied two totes already and used wood from a couple others. Lovinā the totes, we just remove the empties with forks on the loader and bring in a full one. Weāve only used about 1/3 of a tank of heating oil since Sept (itās our source of hot water too). Our heating oil service couldnāt make it up the driveway about a week ago, so itās a good year to be burning wood.
-23 at sunrise. Predicted high of -14
Editā¦I see it hit -42 near I Falls this morning. They can have itā¦
Yes, Iām only about 50 miles north of you south Mississippi , every day, I remind myself about the phrase ābe careful what you wish for you might just get it . ā
A month ago, I was complaining about the lack of cold weather. My trees still had leaves not anymore for the last two weeks we have had cold weather, and now the snow.
Raining and cold, but spring is on the way!
Hard winter here, that time of year you start wishing for spring. Spending time reading, playing guitar and staring wistfully out the window at the orchard.
(-35C here today, good 3ā of snow on the level).
Might have to leave the farm for a trip to the city and see a museum.
The last time New Orleans got measurable snow was in 2009 and it was a mere 0.1", the National Weather Service says. The record is 2.7 inches , which was set on Dec. 31, 1963. Ten inches fell in Orleans Parish on Feb. 14, 1895, NOAA says, but NWS says the record is unreliable.
They are forecast to get up to 6 inches of snow.
Blizzard warning in LA along the Gulf Coast. That has to be a first for them.
30 this morning supposed to get some flurries tonight into tomorrow. Havenāt had snow in a few years here, curious to see if we get any. Low of 26 tonight/tomorrow.
Low of -16.6Ā°F during the overnight and currently sitting at -12.2Ā°F. Weāll see about tonight.
-19 this morning. Will see if the snow cover is enough to save the Incense Bamboo and Giant Sequoia.
Nashville stations predicted 12F for last nightā¦ it is 19-20 F here before and after daylight.
It is the norm for them to miss my temp by about that much.
They are calling for 4F tonightā¦ it will probably be more like 10-12F here.
I have my little asian Cardinal persimmon protectedā¦ and my hot bed full of lettuceā¦ I have the cover and lights on.
It would be nice if these are our lows for the winter.
