It got down to 28 degrees last night in the orchard and peaches are in full bloom. How soon does damage appear? Right away?

@fruitnut is an expert at detecting freeze damage. He would instruct you in cutting the bloom open as shown here when necessary. It works when there is any doubt. Peaches and apricots are more difficult than most flowers to see, but if you cut them open the damage is easy to spot.

Others may come here looking for more information on pears and apples. Most critical temperatures for fruit blossoms are upper 20’s.
