How to get rid of mole crickets

What product can I buy or formula can I make to get rid of mole crickets out of my berry patch and fruit trees without hurting my plants? (not soapy water)

I mean, there’s lots of things that will kill crickets but not your plants. The bigger question is why? Are the crickets causing any problems besides cosmetics?

I have dead grass patches close to where my fruit trees are and I’ve read mole crickets will eat the roots of plants and I don’t want them migrating to my fruit trees.

If they won’t kill my plants I will leave them alone, but I don’t know?

Ok, fair enough. I just get a little leary when people jump straight to “how do I kill it” without first determining if there’s a problem (which it sounds like you have one). According to Clemson, it looks like they’re a turfgrass pest only. If you want to control them, my quick scan of the article below says that it’s as much about regular lawn maintenance as chemical controls, and that you’ll probably need repeat, well-timed applications if you go with an insecticide.

I had never heard of these before, but wow.

Apparently they’re edible and a popular snack in some parts:

Sc nematodes will put a natural control in crickets but does even better against fleas.

Crickets can be a sign of good luck

I’ll look into nematodes since I’ve found a lot of grubs in my leaf mulch as well. If I find a couple alive i’ll try them on the grill.
