My local market put all apples on sale for $1.99. Saw a bunch of organic Sweetango that were the biggest apples in the store. Two ladies were excited to see such big apples so I helped them avoid the bruised ones and explained the flavor profile as they never tried one of those.
I also got some Cortland and Macintosh that were nicely ripened and pretty tasty as far as those varieties go. Apples were from New York and Pennsylvania.
I still like Stayman the best after trying a lot of apples this year.

Sweetango is so good. Prefer it over honeycrisp most of the time.

Kroger’s apple sale with SweeTango at .99 cents ends Oct 1. Those at my Kroger were as good as ever once I sorted through to find the ripest ones. New crop from Washington started in late August. New York crop shipping now. According to the SweeTango website, this year’s crop is 20 percent over recent years due to a good year for production. New promo pics on their Facebook page teases its zesty flavors of lemon, cinnamon and honey.

Sweetango is going off patent soon. Id like to find some wood to graft so I can have producing trees in 3 or 4 years. Anyone have wood I could talk you out of? I can trade for whatever I have if interested. PM me please.
" Yes, the SweeTango apple, known scientifically as the ‘Minneiska’ cultivar, is patented. The patent for this variety was obtained by the University of Minnesota on May 13, 2008, and it is set to expire in 2026. This apple is a cross between the Honeycrisp and Zestar! apples and is controlled and regulated for marketing, allowing only exclusive territories for growing."
