I thought I died and went to heaven but

Then I realized that I was eating a Cara Cara orange!

Does anyone here have any experience growing this in a container?

Good, aren’t they?

Graft them on Flying Dragon Rootstock and they’ll be easier to handle in containers. Better than Cara cara is the California Rojo.

Does anyone know of any reliable sources for this and for kumquats?

check out your local Home Depot, Lowes or WalMart stores. Sometimes they carry them.

i really want to get cara cara. My 8 year old naval orange has been very stingy with fruit setting.

Here’s a comparison between Cara Cara and California Rojo. They look the same, but I like the California Rojo much better now. It seemed to be richer in taste and deeper in color than the Cara Cara. The California Rojo has its origin from France while the Cara cara came from Hacienda Cara Cara in Venzuela.

Here’s what Fruitmentor has to say about them.

But I have to admit, I’m more biased to deeper coloration such as those of the blood oranges and other pigmented citruses. Of course, Cara cara is still far superior than the Washington Navels according to my taste buds, for the fruits produced in my yard, the Rojo is just slightlybetter.
