I’m at 64th and Indiana. So about 4-5 miles from where you were. I’m about a mile from where my daughter lives. Snow here today but it has been a mild winter so far. I’m getting ready to head into the mountains as soon as spring arrives. Right now, it’s lots of hiking on the local trails. I’m also looking at the schedule of local race walks. I’m going to give that a try soon.
My daughter and I do have fig and mulberry cuttings set. If that goes well, we’ll have a few to sell come spring.
I’ve wondered how things were going. Seeing you pop in with a response the other day was heartening. I hope that everything with the transition went smoothly.
Yup very familiar with the area. Right up the road from you is Golden Gate Canyon, some beautiful trails albeit some steep spots. Like I said excellent hiking everywhere. There are a bunch of “Disc Golf” courses for free in the area too. Overall easy-moderate walking and a great time. As for snow I never experienced a bad winter in my time there, I bought a truck after moving there and never needed the 4x4, snow is gone within a a day or two. That was one of the nicest things, the weather is so nice and sunny most of the time, even the summer heat is mild with the lack of humidity.
As for the plants, if everything goes well and you do have a few to sell please reach out I would love to acquire some.
Prowl all you want…but the stores sell garbage for fruit. (Generally speaking.)
Peaches have all the fuzz buffed off and are coated with antifungals. They rot before they ever ripen. They have no fragrance or taste. Apricots are tasteless rubber. Strawberries are loaded with fungicides. Even though gigantic, they are tasteless. Plums are like flavorless rubber.
There is a saying in kayaking. “You don’t stop kayaking when you get old, you get old when you stop kayaking.”
I’d say the same thing about trees or gardening. Even though I gave up the garden, I replaced it with lots of trees. Both activities can keep you healthy.
