Importing scions through APHIS

Anyone try it before? I have a number of scions that seem to be missing apples. And one I want to confirms matching one said to be it. Being so old; they will likely need to go through quarantine and treatments. Which is a good idea anyway.

I can navigate the bureaucrat speak paperwork fine. But sounds like it will not be cheap either.

Was curious how it worked out for others.

@JamesN worked to get the May Duke imported. Here is the post (and thread) where he talked about the experience.

Like the example of the ‘May Duke’ cherry, it helped to get ARS involved. To get items on the import docket through APHIS, it is necessary to make the suggestion to the appropriate Crop Germplasm Committee. You can find a link for the Apple committee here: Index - USDA ARS GRIN (ars-grin.gov). It looks like Gayle Volk is currently the chair, but sometimes lists need updating. There are plenty of contacts there to choose from. Depending on the scion in question, the committee may be motivated to collect and import.
