Somehow I missed seeing that I had a lone fruit on a 3 year old tree on mm111 until I was spraying Roundup around my trees this week. Other than 2 sprays in spring for CAR, no spray. The Improved Red is suppose to be 10 days earlier turning red than most of the Jonathan sports. However, it’s at least a month too early for when I expected it to be turning.
Looks like maybe a bird peck got the rot going in it. I cut the rot out and surprisingly it was ripe enough to eat. It had the expected sweet tart flavor and not an underripe spitter.
